My name is Eden Blackfoot-Hare. I have built a 40-year career in the IT industry, across consulting, software development, operations, networking, marketing, information security, audit, and more. I have been writing professionally since 1992, and many of those articles you will find on this website. I have worked for large and small companies as an employee and for others as a contractor. I spent 7 years working for a small company in Ottawa Canada where I wrote software, did consulting with many companies and Canadian government agencies, and became oif the first Santa Cruz Operation (SCO) authorized instructors in Canada, teaching UNIX, networking, shell programming, and more.
I worked for one of the largest ISPs in Canada as their production manager, where I led a team of people responsible for interacting with the telecommunication providers to connect companies to our backbone network. Following that I spent 11 years with Nortel Networks as an information security consultant for internal projects, information security manager, and architect. I also spent some time in internal audit and in security marketing.
I left Norte and spent a few years at Bank of America in Information Systems Audit where I was responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of the information security control to secure the bank’s network and systems. I moved over to Verizon where I spent another 11 years as an information security consultant helping secure the company’s information systems and finally as an AWS cloud consultant.
After a few years working as a contractor, I joined the Professional Services organization at Amazon Web Services, where I am still working today.
But I am more than all that. I am married, I have two children, and a woman who is transgender. My wonderful wife and I live in East Texas, with our two dogs, two cats, five fish, one tarantula, two frogs, one ball python, 1one pet mouse, and a sun conure. There will likely be some pictures in various places on the site as I migrate writing from various places to here.
