It was one of those sad times … my Mom passed away on November 25, 2025. In those first few weeks, Dad told my sister, sister-in-law, my wife Katie and I that we could go through Mom’s closet and choose any of the clothes we wanted.
This was weird. Katie and I picked out some things, she picked more tops, and I went for the dressed, knowing that we can both wear them.
But it was afterward I commented to my sister Kim and Katie that it felt weird doing it. TThey both said it did for them as well.
And then I followed it up with “because this time I had permission”!
We all laughed and I said I wasn’t sure I wanted to tell Dad, but I did anyway. Dad laughed pretty hard.
I didn’t have permission 45 years ago, but I do now. That is funny!
